Downtown Tecumseh

Downtown Tecumseh will host its annual “Art In August” event from 6-9 p.m.  Downtown Tecumseh merchants and area artists will partner to bring art into downtown businesses. Merchants will offer extended hours and refreshments for the public to enjoy. Artists will be on hand to greet people and talk about their work, which will range from pottery to photography to jewelry and more.  Artists will give demonstrations of their creative talents for all to enjoy. Some artists will have pieces of art for sale. Bring your family down to enjoy this great new event. Restaurants will be open late for your dining pleasure. This event is one you won’t want to miss!

The Tecumseh Economic Development Department has partnered with Community Arts of Tecumseh (CAT), the Tecumseh Central Business Association and regional artists to put on “Art in August”.

“Plein Air Paint Out”*

Local parks and Downtown Tecumseh

(En plein air meaning "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors.)*

New to this event will be a “Plein Air Paint Out”. Plein Air artists will be working all day in local parks and around town to create paintings until 4:00 pm. The paintings will then be taken to the Black Door Gallery at 140 E. Chicago Blvd. to be placed on display for all to enjoy from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. An artist reception will be held at the gallery during the Art In August event to allow visitors to meet the artists. The Plein Air activities are being coordinated by Susan Amstutz of the Black Door Gallery. The gallery will display the paintings until end of September.

There will be street performers and artist demonstrations inside and outside of the stores and lots for everyone to see and enjoy.
